ABOUT OUR CD: "In the Ruff!"
"We met doing community theatre," Ann muses. "It was an awful show, and I nearly turned the role down. What we would have missed!" Ann and Beth would do several more theatre shows together before discovering that they both loved music — and more importantly, the same music. Theatre also played its part in this collection of original songs. Many of them were written for Ann's beloved WhoDunnit Murder Mystery Theater, and these — especially the Dr. MacCrimmon theme and The Listener theme — are well known to Kentuckiana mystery fans.
Other songs come from critical moments in the two women's lives, both the brightest times and the darkest. Still others are the creation of mystery writer Ann's vivid imagination. "One of my favorites is 'Panic!', she says. "It's such a puzzle! It seems to be about an impending intimate encounter, but is it? Who is telling the story, and is he or she telling the truth? That plaintive 'I love you' — desperate cry or Siren song?" And the resolution? Ann just laughs. "I won't tell."
Of course, some of the tracks — "The No-Blues" and "Don't Ask the Future," for example — are just plain fun. "We had a lot of fun recording them," Beth says with a smile. We hope you'll have fun listening. Enjoy!
